The convent of Saint Cecilia was founded in 1866 by Dom Prosper Gu\u00e9ranger and Mother C\u00e9cile Bruy\u00e8re (1845\u20131909). Like their brother monks at Saint-Pierre, the sisters of Sainte-C\u00e9cile express their exclusive love for Christ through a communal life centred on the celebration of the Church\u2019s prayer.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-efedecb e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"efedecb\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e0edffe e-con-full e-flex e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"e0edffe\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2574e33 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2574e33\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><span style=\"color: #ff9900\">Mother C\u00e9cile Bruy\u00e8re<\/span><\/h2><p>Born in 1845, C\u00e9cile Bruy\u00e8re was a leading figure in the Benedictine revival in France during the 19th century. From a very young age, she was deeply influenced by the spirituality of Dom Prosper Gu\u00e9ranger, the restorer of monastic life at Saint-Pierre Abbey in Solesmes. In 1866, at the age of just 21, she founded Sainte-C\u00e9cile Abbey in Solesmes, becoming its first abbess.  <\/p><p>Under her guidance, the community adopted a way of life deeply rooted in the liturgy, prayer and fidelity to the Rule of Saint Benedict. A woman of strong character, she guided her sisters with both rigour and gentleness, seeking to form souls wholly devoted to God. She also played a vital role in the spiritual formation of the nuns and in the dissemination of the liturgical tradition restored by Solesmes.
