The gregorian modes

In a first section, there are numerous tables explaining the main aspects of the problem. These charts can be studied independently or as a whole, and they are based on the life-long studies of Dom Jean Claire. The second section, called the Gregorian octoechos is a detailed investigation of each one of the eight Gregorian modes. Much of this part is based on the studies of Father Jean Jeanneteau (1992), canon regular. His highly original and personal notions on the ethos of each mode are cited extensively.
