The abbey library is housed in a building designed for this purpose in 1937 by Dom Paul Bellot (1876–1944), a monk of Solesmes and an architect, as well as in part of the building constructed in 1896, prior to the monks’ departure into exile. To this must be added the scriptorium, also built in 1896 by Dom Jules Mellet (1846–1917), though in a style very different from the other buildings.
Our library contains around two hundred thousand volumes. It was established following the restoration of the monastery in 1833. It contains many works on patristics, theology and liturgy, which are used by the monks for their lectio divina and to deepen their faith through study. But one can also find many other works covering other areas of culture, notably history, literature and art in general. For a monastic library is at the service of all that is beautiful and true.
