Very close to the abbey, in the village of Solesmes, we offer women and families small houses with several bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, etc. You can stay there and perhaps share the house with someone else who, like you, has come to find peace and quiet. Bed linen is provided for those who require it. You may prepare your own meals in the kitchen, which is at your disposal. Your stay may not exceed eight days. All guests are required to leave the premises clean upon departure.
The main focus of your retreat is to take part in the monks’ liturgical prayer in the abbey church during the services throughout the day (except for Matins, at 5.30 am). Everything is sung in Latin and Gregorian chant. Booklets with translations are available at the church entrance.
The rest of your time may be spent reading, reflecting and in personal prayer, or taking walks in the countryside around the monastery. If you wish to receive spiritual guidance from a monk, or simply to go to confession, you may make a request at the monastery reception.
Contributions towards accommodation costs are voluntary. We estimate the cost of accommodation at €30 per day per adult in one of our houses (€35 during the heating season). Those who are able to give more enable us to welcome everyone who wishes to take part in a retreat.
